Scout refers to herself and Jem as Boo's "children". What does this image suggest about how she has matured since the days when she played the Boo Radley game?
Boo did alot for the children and they feel bad for making the Boo Radley game. Justin Curtis may.19
Jem and Scout felt bad for making fun of Boo Radley by playing the Boo Radley game. Justin Curtis may 19
I think that now that the children know that Boo Radley is not a bad person they regret the Boo Radley game.-Marla May 14
I agree with Marla, the children probably feel kind of bad for playing the Boo Radley game. When Boo saved the children, it showed that everything they thought about him was completely wrong. They should regret playing that game mainly because it was makeing fun of Boo Radley or at least the stories of him. Nick May 17.
I also agree with Marla to the fact that they probably feel bad for playing the Boo Radley game after Boo has done so much for the children Tony May 17 2010 20:09
During the Tom Robinson trial in the court, do you think that the evidence, and to the fact that Tom clearly could not have done the crime of raping Mayella Ewell, should he have been convicted of this crime or was Mayella trying to send a African American to prison just for giggles?Tony 18:48 May 3, 2010 ----
I dont think it was fair becuase with the evidence it was clear that Tom couldnt have beet her.Justin Curtis
I think Mayella was just trying to send Tom to jail becuase hes black. Justin Curtis
I don't think that Mayella Ewell's evidence for the trial was concluded well enough for Tom Robinson to go to jail. I believe that she may just be following with what her father is telling her to do. Since Tom's left arm is crippled due to a accident in the past he is physically unable to hurt someone as Mayella was hurt. Atticus even proved that her father was left handed by asking him to write his name. Mayella was beaten up on the right side of her face, that ment that the person who hurt her did so with their left hand. In Mayella's defence i think that her Dad is telling her to say things that she does not want to, he may be threatening her so she feels stuck in a bad situation. - Marla May 4, 2010
I agree with Marla when she says Mayella's dad is threatening her to say these things because Bob Ewell definitely seems like the type of person to do this to his nineteen year old daughter. -Tony May 5, 2010 20:27
I don't believe it would be fair for Tom Robinson to go to jail. I think that if he did many people would base it on his race and not give him a chance otherwise. - Marla May 10, 2010
Tom Robinson was clearly convicted because he was black. It was clear that it was not even possible for Tom to rape Mayella. This is not fair at all for Tom, he is being sentenced just for his race not the crime. Nick May 12 6:47 am
What do you think Jem and Scout were feeling when the angery mob went after Atticus? I think that Jem and Scout were surprised to see Atticus surrounded by the mob, they were calm but they were surprised. To the fact that Jem stood up and went out to help Atticus tells the reader that Jem is very brave to go and do this in spite of himself. Tony April 27 2010 18:26
I believe that Jem and Scout may have been frightened when the angry mob of people surrounded Atticus. Although they remained calm and dealt with the problem well. Marla April 28, 2010
Jem and scout probably didnt know what the mob was going to do becuase there to young to understand racism. Justin Curtis may 19
I agree with Tony. Jem and Scout both handled the situation very well, but were also quite suprised to see the size of the mob. They dealt with the problem very well and were brave enough to go and help Atticus. Nick April 28th 2010
I believe that the Tom Robinson trial may effect Jem and Scout in many ways. The relationships with family, such as Francis may have never been great but the trial is making it much more difficult. I can't imagine that hearing your father being called names as he is, would be easy. I also know as a person i would be just as defensive as Scout is of her father. When it comes down to the situation I think that it is hard for both Atticus and the children because they are both dealing with something they are very unsure about. Marla April 20, 2010.
I agree with Justin, the kids don't know very much about racism so it makes the situation hard to deal with. Also Jem and Scout may not understand how hard it is for there father to do his job a this time. Marla April 25, 2010
I agree Jem and Scout dont understand. Atticus is trying to do the right thing even though he knows Tom will not win the trial. He is trying to teach his children to do the right thing. This is not easy for him and it affects his relationship with friends and neighbours because some of them disagree. April 25th, 2010. Nick Foley
The Finches relatives and neighbors start to dislike the Finch's because there standing up for a black person and everyone back then hated blacks. This situation was hard for Jem and Scout because there just young, innocent little kids that don’t understand what racism is. Justin Curtis April 23 2010
In chapters 1-6 i couldn't believe it when Miss Caroline, Scouts teacher told her to stop reading with her father. I found this hard to believe considering how much work out side of school is encouraged now a days. What do you guys think? -Marla
I disagree because the skill of reading is a good accomplishment in life and by the teacher telling her not to do it, its teaching her to not read. Justin Curtis april 26
I think that Miss. Caroline should be praising Scout for what she has accomplished with her father. Even though this is a different time I still think that Miss. Caroline should be giving Scout Kodos for his ability to read before everyone else.-Tony 4/13/2010 19:57
I thought it was wrong because she achieved something before anyone els in her age group and got yelled at for it when she should have told her she was doing a good job. Justin Curtis April.14, 2010
I agree with Tony and Justin. I think that it is not right for a teacher to tell a student to stop reading. Especially when she is reading above the rest of the kids her age. The teacher should be encouraging her to keep it up and also congradulate her for being the best reader in the class. Nick April 14th, 2010
I think that as a teacher Miss Caroline should almost have to encourage the children to do good and work harder. If I were in Scouts position then, I don't think I would really even know what to do or say in this situation. -Marla April 14, 2010
I have to agree with what Marla is saying, if i were Scout either I wouldn't know what to say or I would totally freak at Miss. Caroline about how i can reed before anyone else. Tony 04/15/2010 19:33
If I were told by a teacher to stop reading, when I was above most kids, I would probably just ignore her. Especially if I really enjoyed it. It would not be right for a teacher to do this in the first place, but if they did all you could really do is ignore her or listen, my choice would be to ignore. Nick April 18th 2010 10:36 pm
